This year schools will have the opportunity to develop a new type of projects for arts and sports classes intended for students with Special Educational Needs (SENs).
It was upon a proposal from the Ombudsman Institution that the National Curriculum “Together in Arts and Sports” incorporated a new module, which, for the first time, will provide an opportunity to finance activities such as art therapy, music therapy and sports adapted for students with special needs.
Schools will be allowed to apply for the new module with up to two projects. The groups/teams will have a minimum number of three students. The program allows employing specialists who are not on the regular payroll of the school but have the experience to work with students with SENs while it is also possible to assign the job to experts from the school. The Projects will comprise 80 hours of additional activities, at least 2 hours per week. The total budget for this module is BGN 1.3 million; the maximum funding of a group/team is up to BGN 5,000.
