Ombudsman Velislava Delcheva held a working meeting with Plamen Dimitrov, President of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB); the meeting was attended by Katia Hristova-Valtcheva, Head of the Office of the Ombudsman; and by the CITUB Vice Presidents Daniela Alexieva and Todor Kapitanov.
The meeting discussed the potentials to continue the institutional cooperation, future joint work to prepare opinions and to draft bills and to launch public awareness campaigns.
“Traditionally, we have very good cooperation, especially in the field of labor and social security legislation, and in specific laws in various sectors, Mr. Dimitrov said. He briefed the Ombudsman on the CITUB socio-economic activities and priorities.
A point of the discussion was the possibility to create an institutional partnership network that would ensure a systematic and coordinated approach to the protection of labor, social and trade union rights. Joint initiatives are planned within the framework of future cooperation as is the exchange of expertise, participation in public consultations and interaction is cases of violations of civil rights.
