Ombudsman Velislava Delcheva organises a hearing of the nominees for Deputy Ombudsman, which will be held tomorrow, 14 August 2025, at 10.00 a.m., in the building of the Institution in the city of Sofia, 22 George Washington Street.
In the spirit of publicity and transparency, the hearing will be broadcast in real time on YouTube and on the website of the Ombudsman Institution: https://www.youtube.com/live/9oI5AE7bGrA?si=143c6yvUGHtnHqvt
The decision on scheduling the hearing is available here: https://www.ombudsman.bg/bg/p/protsedura-za-nominirane-na-zamestnik-ombud-608
By the deadline of 6 August 2025, three applications had been received in the following order: by Maria Filipova, proposed by the Bulgarian National Association of Active Consumers, by Marina Kisyova de Geus, proposed by Ekaterina Karavelova Foundation, and by Denitsa Dimitrova, proposed by the National Network for Children.
We would like to recall that on 25 July this year, the National Assembly adopted procedural rules for the nomination and election of a deputy ombudsman, according to which the public defender Veleslava Delcheva must submit the nomination of her deputy to the Parliament.
In September, the Ombudsman is due to present the approved candidate to the responsible Committee on Direct Participation of Citizens, Citizens' Complaints and Interaction with Civil Society, after which the candidate must be voted on in the Plenary Hall.
