Citizens’ complaints received by the Ombudsman Institution, as well as the main priorities of its work, were the focus of a meeting between National Assembly Chair Mihaela Dotsova and Ombudsman Velislava Delcheva, which took place at the parliament.
During the meeting, the Ombudsman informed the Chair of the National Assembly of the institution’s successful re-accreditation with “A” status as a national human rights institution in accordance with the UN Paris Principles. This status certifies the institution’s compliance with the highest international standards of independence, impartiality, and effective protection of human rights, and enables full participation in UN mechanisms and forums in the field of human rights.
At the end of the meeting, the Ombudsman and the Chair of the National Assembly agreed on the need for active interaction and cooperation on issues related to the protection of citizens’ rights.
