Ombudsman Velislava Delcheva and UNICEF Representative in Bulgaria Kristina de Bruin signed a new inter-institutional work plan, which is being implemented in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation between the Ombudsman Institution and UNICEF for the period 2023–2027.
The planned activities are aimed at protecting children's rights and strengthening the capacity of the Ombudsman Institution as an independent monitoring body – both for the respect of the rights of children and for conducting consultations with them.
Priorities include raising public awareness and sensitivity on children's rights issues, as well as advocating for better protection and services for all children, including access to justice.
The signing of the plan confirms the partnership between the Ombudsman Institution and UNICEF, aimed at implementing international standards for the protection of children's rights and their sustainable development in Bulgaria.
"Children are the most ulnerable group, and our commitment is to make their voices heard. Together with UNICEF, we continue to work for institutional change that will guarantee real protection, not just formal protection," said Ombudsman Velislava Delcheva.
