“Bread is much more than food – it is ‘salvation’, a symbol of life, wellbeing and hospitality of the Bulgarian, who traditionally welcomes his guests with bread and salt. Our people believes that our daily bread has a soul, therefore, those who produce it for our table were blessed – just as the loaf of bread was blessed today. I express my respect and gratitude for the work, skill and devotion of all who have chosen to dedicate themselves to the bakery and confectionary in Bulgaria.” This is what Deputy Ombudsman Maria Filipova said at the opening of the 33^rd International Food Exhibition BULPEK 2025 at the Inter Expo Center.

She congratulated on her behalf and on behalf of Ombudsman Velislava Delcheva the audience of the exhibition of the National Branch Union of Bakers and Confectioners.

The Deputy Ombudsman declared the willingness of the Ombudsman Institution to support the effort of the organization to ensure that schoolchildren eat good and wholesome food.

“This is a cause that is worth talking about – what food to give to our children while we do not cast away the Bulgarian bread,” Maria Filipova concluded.

In recognition of the joint work, the Deputy Ombudsman received an honorary plaque from the Chair of the National Branch Union of Bakers and Confectioners, Mariana Kukusheva.
