Ombudsman Velislava Delcheva attended the high-level conference “Bulgaria on the Doorstep of the Eurozone” organized today at the Boyana Residence by the Ministry of Finance and the Bulgarian National Bank. The event was part of the public awareness campaign concerning the adoption of the Euro in Bulgaria on 1 January 2026. The conference brought together leading figures from European and Bulgarian institutions, the academia and the media.
The opening session was attended by Prime Minister Rossen Jeliazkov, the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Kristalina Georgieva and the President of the European Central Bank Christine Lagarde.
“Bulgaria is in a shape fit to join the Eurozone and the convergence criteria that it meets will ensure that the country will be deservingly at the table where the economic and financial future of the EU is decided.” This was the message of Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova at the round table in the company of BNB Governor Dimitar Radev, the European Commissioner for Economy and Productivity, Implementation and Simplification Valdis Dombrovskis and the Managing Director of the European Stability Mechanism Pierre Gramegna.
