Ombudsman Velislava Delcheva organises a public meeting for all interested parties on the topic: “Measures for the Effective Protection of Electricity Consumers.”
The forum will take place today, 20 March 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the building of the Ombudsman Institution located at 22 George Washington Street, Sofia.
Participants in the discussion will include Acting Minister of Energy Traicho Traikov, Acting Minister of Economy and Industry Irina Shtonova, Chairman of the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission Plamen Mladenovski, Chairman of the Commission for Consumer Protection Alexander Kolyachev, representatives of electricity companies, the Bulgarian National Association “Active Consumers,” and the Federation of Consumers in Bulgaria.
The occasion is the hundreds of complaints from citizens across the country regarding high electricity bills that have been received at the Ombudsman Institution. In response, the Ombudsman has already referred the matter to the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission and the Ministry of Energy, urging them to investigate and take the necessary steps to protect citizens.
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss specific measures to ensure transparency, fairness, and effective protection of the rights of electricity consumers.
