The legislative proposal of Ombudsman Diana Kovacheva for a second chance for those secondary school graduates who are not happy with their matriculation results which are an entry point for higher education institutions has received support today at the first vote at the Parliamentary Education and Science Committee.
We recall that the proposal was supported and put forward by Members of Parliament from four parliamentary groups. These are Education Committee Chair Krasimir Valchev (GERB-UDF) and MPs Elisaveta Belobradova (Democratic Bulgaria), Academician Nikolay Denkov and Hristo Simeonov (We Continue the Change), Galen Monev (Bulgarian Rise).
The Ombudsman tabled the amendments before the Parliament at the end of November aiming to give a second chance to those secondary school graduates who have poor results from the matriculation examination to be allowed, once and within one year of sitting for the first matriculation examination, to appear for the next one scheduled at the same school.
