Ombudsman Velislava Delcheva would start using BTA's national press clubs across the country as reception rooms. This became clear today after a partnership agreement was signed between the two institutions.
“The first reception of the Ombudsman at the national press clubs of the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency will be held on 30 September in Samokov at 12 p.m. It will be held together with the National Social Security Institute so that we can talk about pensions in euros, explain to older people and respond to their concerns about the introduction of the euro. We will start with small towns and villages where people have more difficulty accessing administrative services," said Velislava Delcheva.
She thanked the Ministry of Finance for providing information materials for the reception rooms, which explain what pensions for the elderly would look like in the new euro currency.
The Ombudsman also explained that she would be accompanied by experts who would be able to answer questions related to various issues, not just the introduction of the euro.
The public defender announced that the next reception days would take place on 9 and 10 October in Gotse Delchev and Petrich.
"I am convinced that this will make our partnership lasting and that our cooperation will yield results, rather than just another cooperation agreement being signed. I am also convinced that together we will work for the rights and freedoms of citizens, including their right to access information," the Ombudsman emphasized.
"Now, the national press clubs of the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency (BTA) will also be places where people can seek help from the Ombudsman. BTA offers 43 national press clubs, including among Bulgarian communities outside the country. There are 33 of them in Bulgaria – in all regional centers, as well as six cities that are not regional centers but have a population and economic, cultural, and historical significance greater than that of some regional centers – Kazanlak, Samokov, Petrich, Gotse Delchev, Troyan, and Svishtov," said BTA Director General Kiril Valchev.
