Ombudsman Velislava Delcheva addressed the executive director of Toplofikacia Sofia EAD, Petar Petrov, with a recommendation to make every effort to shorten the duration of the 9-day planned maintenance and repair work on the heat transmission network in the Iztok Sofia district, which begins today. Because of this, dozens of large neighborhoods with thousands of residential customers and numerous medical and commercial facilities will be left without hot water.
"Considering the importance of the planned engineering works, I would like to emphasize that the suspension of heat supply affects a large part of the capital city. In this regard, and on the basis of the Ombudsman Act, I recommend that all possible technical and organisational measures be taken to shorten the deadlines for the implementation of the planned activities, while strictly complying with the safety and quality requirements for the work performed," writes the Ombudsman.
In addition, Delcheva points out that she expects that after the repairs to the heat transmission network have been completed, the sites, and "more specifically the excavations, will be properly secured, and that after the work on site has been completed, the damaged street and sidewalk infrastructure will be restored in a timely and high-quality manner."
