Ombudsman Velislava Delcheva accepted the invitation of Roma children and participated in an open art class at Kiril Vasilev's studio in the Nadezhda district of Sofia. Together with the young people, Delcheva took her "first steps" in drawing circles, ellipses, and squares.
The host said that he worked with children at risk, helping them overcome their difficulties through visual arts and sculpture. He expressed his gratitude for the support of the Vrabnitsa district, where he worked as a community educator. In his words, this is his "mission" – instead of children turning to crime, every Sunday they visit his studio to learn moral values through painting, religion, and sports.
Vasilev shared that neither the children nor their parents believed that the Ombudsman would accept their invitation, and expressed his gratitude to Delcheva for encouraging them to learn and develop through her personal example.
For her part, the Ombudsman told the young people about her work, giving specific examples, and assured them that they could count on her support at any time, including through social media. As they parted, she invited them to visit the institution of the Ombudsman Institution and present their first exhibition there.
